Hello all. My problem is this. I'm using IE 6 and JAWS 7 and am unable to access 850koa.com's web based player. Once I click on the listen live link, I get the commercial and not the rest of the content and I also get a message that says the media is unavailable. The help section suggests changes to be made in windows media player but those parameters are set to what they suggest already and still no luck. Someone told me to update flash, but this appears not to work either. My friend uses jaws 8 with IE 7 and gets it just fine. I have no access to jaws 8 on this computer and IE will skip to 8 if I update it. Any help would be appreciated.
It is possible to upgrade IE to 7 only, then letting your computer get all the updates for it, but not excepting 8. I found the download on the main page for IE 8 near the bottom under older versions. Maybe this will solve you issue, because it seems to be a viewing problem, not that the player or info is not on the page. microsoft.com, in the search box type download internet explorer 7 then you'll have the same setup your friend does, or again look on the main page for IE 8 for 7. .
Hope this helps.
This didn't work. I tried IE 8 previously and now I'm using IE 7 with jaws 9. Someone suggested downloading the shockwav player from adobe but when I try to do that, I can't because it says I have to click a gold bar at the top of the page and that's not accessible.
Yes it's accessible. Here is how you do it.
Once you're on the page go down a bit then turn on your Jaws cursor. Next use the top of page comand, or arrow up with your arrow keys until you hear the message that says something like this web page wants to install an active exe control if you want to allow this click here. On that message you carefully go over to the click hereusing your right arrow keys so that you are reading the line, or letter by letter then hit inter. You can most times hit inter on the message, but you must be sure you are on it. It might take you a few tries to understand how to do it, but it's there. Also some times Adobe on the same page has a link that says "if your download does not start click here, but if not that is how you load active exe controls. After you click it you'll know what to do it will ask questions, but you know how to install programs. Smile.
I am a bit confused, because you had said you were using IE 6 and could not upgrade it to 7, so I thought that might help you. Try this to load the exe control and see if that doesn't fix your issue.
It's called the information bar. Alt+N brings it into focus, and space acctivates it. You can also use the jaws cursor, and follow the instructions from post 4 if it doesn't work.
